The Project

Patricia, the owner of this beautiful guest house owned 2 websites. A wordpress blog (hosted on wordpress.com) as well as a more traditional website which needed a little refresh. When she called us, the idea was to bring together under one unit the blog as well as the website to strengthen the overall online presence. She also wanted her new website to be responsive and keep the “cottage” / “guest house” spirit that is her strength. Patricia also asked us to mainly use her own photos to illustrate her website.

The Result

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at Patricia’s guest house to discuss her needs and expectations with her. Staying at her place gave us the opportunity to fully understand the spirit she wanted for her website. This new website uses the WordPress CMS with a custom theme. We migrated all the content of the old blog to the new site (visible on a blog page). Of course, we have made sure that all old URLs are correctly redirected to avoid any loss of traffic and SEO work.

Our services in details

At Setup

  • Site architecture elaboration as well as graphical design definition
  • We stayed at the “Chalet le Rucher” for a couple days to to take some pictures but mainly to impregnate us with the spirit of the place
  • Definition of the strengths of the establishment and recommendations on the content to be put forward

The development phase

  • Custom Theme creation to match the graphical requirements
  • 26 content pages were created. Most texts were taken over from the previous site even though we made several changes in order to optimize the content for SEO
  • On each of these pages we took care to optimize them in terms of SEO by filling in all the information such as meta description, meta tag and taking care to define an optimized url.
  • On all the pages we have also defined all the elements relating to social networks (shared image, text and titles)
  • Complete migration of the old blog hosted under wordpress.com to the new website
  • Image galleries creation
  • All images were optimized for SEO
  • All social media accounts were linked and we integrated as well the Trip Advisor reviews directly on the site
  • Website size and site loading time optimization
  • Before public release we published the finished website on our development server and gave Patricia access to it. We implemented all desired changes and modification

At the launch

  • The site was put live on the customer’s desired hosting provider (we did not take care of the hosting)
  • Creating a business account on Google and integrating Google Analytics
  • A detailed user manual was delivered. This manual included:
    • General infos about the website (how to edit existing content and create new content)
    • A detailed list of advice on how to improve further SEO
    • A detailed tutorial about how to use Google Webmaster Tool and Google Analytics

Total project duration: 2 months (time between the first contact and the site delivery)
